Hi. My name is Pete Barton and I am an Approved Driving Instructor (grade 5 - Good) and have been teaching people to learn to drive for the last 2 years. Prior to training to become an ADI I had taught in colleges and universities for 23 years and have brought my teaching expertise to driving, providing all learners with a structured learning programme.I design a course of practical teaching to match your own needs, that takes you from your first lesson through to taking your practical test and beyond. I am a patient and friendly instructor and encourage a friendly and fun learning environment as I am convinced that if you enjoy your driving lessons your skills and knowledge will improve much quicker.
I understand that you may want to learn to drive as quickly as possible and will do everything I can to help you achieve this. However, I also want to make sure that once you pass your test you are confident to drive whenever and wherever you want.
I provide lessons to suit all abilities and ages. I have a lot of experience of working with nervous pupils and welcome those who are struggling with a particular aspect of learning to drive.
I also offer lessons for those who have previously passed their test but want to gain confidence and refresh skills in specific areas like motorway and city centre driving or parking.

I passed my test in April 2010 with Pete. I found him to be very encouraging and calm which helped me to relax and enjoy driving. He always explained everything clearly and was always willing to answer any queries I had. The reason I chose to be taught by Pete was because my sister had also previously passed her driving test with him and had found it to be a very positive experience.
